Welcome to the Belgian Castles & Fortresses Award (BCA)
Every castle has a story. Every fortress has witnessed history. And every contact you make helps bring these remarkable places back to life through amateur radio.
The BOS! Belgian Castles & Fortresses Award (BCA) invites licensed radio amateurs from Belgium and around the world to discover, activate and chase the incredible collection of Belgian castles, fortresses and historic strongholds. From medieval ruins hidden deep in the Ardennes to magnificent castles surrounded by peaceful parks and waterways, every reference offers a unique operating experience and a new adventure.
For Activators
Pack your radio, head outdoors and operate from some of Belgium's most beautiful historic locations. Combine the excitement of portable amateur radio with fresh air, breathtaking scenery and centuries of history. Every activation is an opportunity to explore new places, meet fellow radio amateurs and create unforgettable pile-ups from unique castle locations.
Whether you are activating your very first castle or working towards hundreds of references, every expedition is another chapter in your own amateur radio adventure.
For Chasers
You don't have to leave home to join the adventure. Listen for BCA stations on the bands, hunt as many different castle references as possible and build your collection of Belgian castles from your own shack. Every QSO connects you with an activator operating from a fascinating piece of Belgium's cultural heritage.
Follow the activations, collect new references, earn awards and become part of a growing international community of castle hunters.
Explore • Activate • Chase • Enjoy
The BCA program is about much more than collecting references. It is about discovering history, enjoying the outdoors, promoting portable amateur radio and sharing great moments with fellow operators across the world.
So charge your batteries, prepare your antennas, tune across the bands and join the adventure.
